Bridgeland is a place where people can find a balance in their lives, juggling the necessary (job, chores) with the important (family, friends and self).
Bridgeland’s master plan is developed to preserve the community’s natural surroundings, that allows for this balance. Amenities are built near homes, with park areas in every neighborhood. There is a hierarchy of trails, with smaller paths merging into significant nature trails, such as the Cypress Creek Nature Trail, set along the historic Cypress Creek Corridor, a 1,000-acre nature area and creek system bordering the northern edge of Bridgeland.
Plus, each of Bridgeland’s four villages will have a major resort center, offering different amenities at each complex. The first, Lakeland Activity Center, provides a swimming complex and spray park, tennis courts, a 6,000-square-foot community center and playgrounds. Oak Meadow Park is another popular amenity, with a disc golf course, kayaks and canoes — and even fishing equipment and bait for catch-and-release fishing — available on a complimentary basis for residents. An on-site activities director keeps residents busy with a host of classes and events, including fitness, family festivals, cooking classes, kids classes and much more.
In all, the master-planned community is devoting 3,000 acres to open space that includes more than 900 acres of lakes and waterways, 300 of which are already in use.
But Bridgeland’s balance includes more than amenities. The master plan offers space for on-site schools and churches, plus a strong retail and services component. Along with amenity centers, each of Bridgeland’s four villages also will boast a retail area for shopping, restaurants and services. The first phase of the Lakeland Village Center begins construction next year and is expected to open in 2012. In addition, 900 acres have been set aside for a bustling Town Center that will be a hub of activity for the community and may include employment centers, hospitals, entertainment and additional shopping.
- Three separate trail systems perfect for walking, biking and jogging that is home to over 140 species of birds and wildlife.
- Three separate parks with features such as pavilions, restrooms and trail maps.
- Over 900 acres of lakes featuring wetlands plants, an abundance of waterfowl and catch-and-release fishing.
- Recreation center featuring a resort pool, competition and lap pool, spray park, tennis courts and playground.
- Activity Center includes access to an equipped workout room. An activities director coordinates an exciting calendar of events and classes.
