Alice in Wonderland at Bridgeland
Alice, the white rabbit, Cheshire Cat and all of your Wonderland favorites will come to life at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 12, when area residents stage “Alice in Wonderland” in Bridgeland in Cypress.
The free performance features the talents of 38 local residents. Directing the play is Candice Koern, who has been director of theater at Cy-Fair High School for more than 20 years and has directed more than 70 productions, including those qualifying for state competitions.
“Alice in Wonderland” will be staged at the performance pavilion in Festival Park, one of several park areas in Bridgeland’s Lakeland Heights traditional neighborhood development. Festival Park is located across the street from Lakeland Activity Center, 16902 Bridgeland Landing. Concessions will be available.
There is no reserved seating for either performance. Audience members are invited to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets and encouraged to arrive early.
This is just one of a host of classes and events Bridgeland has opened to the public this year, including cooking and sports camps for the kids, gardening and birding classes and various concerts and markets. The public events were in addition to an active residents-only events calendar. This fall brings two of Bridgeland’s largest annual events — Nature Fest, slated for Sept. 25, and Howl-O-Ween, happening Oct. 30. 15 of 16 Cinco Ranch Schools Receive Exemplary Rating
Fifteen of the 16 Katy ISD schools serving the 7,600-acre Cinco Ranch master-planned community have earned the highest possible rating in the 2010 Accountability Ratings just released by the Texas Education Agency.
The 15 schools were all rated Exemplary, the highest of the four ratings assigned by the TEA.
An Exemplary rating means that a campus must have at least 90 percent of its students meet or exceed the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) standard on each subject, including Reading, English/Language Arts, Math, Writing, Social Studies and Science. A campus must also have a dropout rate of 2 percent or less to earn an Exemplary rating.
Taylor High School, the only school serving Cinco Ranch that was not rated Exemplary for 2010, received the TEA’s second highest rating, Recognized.
Katy ISD schools attended by Cinco Ranch students include eight elementary campuses: Creech, Exley, Fielder, Griffin, Kilpatrick, Rylander, Stanley and Williams. Middle schools include Beck, Beckendorff, Cinco Ranch, McMeans and Woodcreek. Students also attend Cinco Ranch and Seven Lakes high schools.
Four Telfair schools receive TEA Exemplary ratings
Four Fort Bend ISD schools attended by students living in Telfair have received Exemplary ratings from the Texas Education Agency, which just released its 2010 Accountability Ratings.
Cornerstone Elementary, located onsite in Telfair, received an Exemplary rating, as did Colony Meadows Elementary. The TEA also awarded 2010 Exemplary ratings to Sartartia Middle School and Fort Settlement Middle School.
Another Happy Homeowner in Telfair
We want to thank your team for what was a pleasant and painless custom home building experience. We have been in our home since February 1, and not only was our home built faster than expected, Jeremy was a pleasure to work with all along the way.
He was very responsive to our questions and concerns, and quick to address any issues we had. We trust Jeremy to give us an honest answer to our questions. (To note, we started the home building process with Jamie Dutton, who was also a joy to work with.
We were sorry to see Jamie transferred to another community, but were also very pleased with the service we received from Jeremy.) We have had several friends visit and compliment our house, and have actually referred a colleague to the ‘Build on Your Lot’
program with PIB. (His home is under construction as I type this.)
We wanted to send our sincere appreciation to Tony and his team for helping us design a home that is uniquely ours and also thank Jeremy for assuring us of all the finer details regarding the
quality and integrity of the home. We look forward to spending many years in it.
Sincerely,
Dario & Robin D.
